How can I prevent Headlice and Nits?
There is no guaranteed method of preventing a head lice infection.
However, there are several precautions that can be taken to minimise the risk and prevent a head lice and nit infestation:
check hair regularly for headlice with a special fine toothed headlice or nit comb
check hair regularly for nits which indicate live head lice.
avoid physical hair contact with a person who has head lice
tie long hair up or braid to minimise hair to hair contact
do not share combs, brushes, hats, scarves, ribbons, or other personal items
examine members of your family who have had close contact with a person infected with head lice.
